As a DMC who invites people from all over the world to get to know the many treasures South America has to offer, we see it as our responsibility to act sustainably in every way in order to ensure the protection of the local nature and culture, to support the economy of local communities, to create a fair and enjoyable working climate for our team and of course to provide an impeccable and safe travel experience to our clients.
This is why, since December 2018, all SAT offices are certified by the Rainforest Alliance for meeting the requirements of the Sustainable Tourism Standard for Inbound Tour Operators. With this, SAT is the first DMC in South America that got certified with all offices. Furthermore, we are the only certified tourism business in Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.
SAT started its operation in 1973 with a small office in Frankfurt, Germany. During a time with limited communication possibilities, we were a pioneer in our goal to establish a link between incoming offices in South America and travel operators in Europe.
In 1976, our first own local SAT office was set-up in Brazil. Soon SAT became known as a reliable and efficient DMC to handle group and series bookings across Latin America.
Between 1988 and 2005, additional offices followed in Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Chile and Uruguay.
With the opening of SAT Colombia in 2013, SAT expanded its presence to fully owned offices in 7 South American countries. In order to ease operations, additional handling offices were established in Cusco, Cartagena and on the Galapagos Islands.
SAT have worked towards establishing themselves as the best regional DMC in South America. For this they rely on the active participation of all their collaborators, to always follow the strict criteria of profitability, transparency, technology, environmental protection and social commitment.
