Nafolio

Nafolio

Nafplio is one of the most historic cities of the region, full of spectacular monuments and sights that have stories that span from the ancient times to the medieval. It hosted the first Greek parliament after the Greek War of Independence. It was also the town where the first pharmacy was opened, the first military school was founded and the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, was murdered.

Walk around the city which preserves fascinating, timeless relics from three different historical phases. Elements of Neo-classical, Venetian and Turkish styles can be found in the architecture of the buildings. Syntagma square is the nerve center of the town with restaurants and souvenir shops selling handicrafts. Do not miss the eternal relics of the old town like the two Turkish mosques, the archeological museum, Agios Spiridonas Church, whose walls are still scarred by the bullet marks that killed Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first Governor of the newly liberated country in 1828, are bustling with tourists from all over the world. There are impregnable fortresses of the Byzantine era overlooking this quaint town. The harbor waterfront is an ideal getaway to enjoy the panorama of the Mediterranean sunset or enjoy a nice coffee in the morning!

Olympia

Olympia

Olympia is dedicated to Zeus, the father of the gods, it sprawls over the southwest foot of Mount Kronios, at the confluence of the Alpheios and the Kladeos rivers, in a lush, green landscape. Although secluded near the west coast of the Peloponnese, Olympia became the most important religious and athletic centre in Greece. Its fame rests upon the Olympic Games, the greatest national festival and a highly prestigious one world-wide, which was held every four years to honour Zeus.

Delphi was the site of the Delphic Oracle which was the most important oracle in the classical Greek world, and a major site for the worship of the god Apollo. Greece has a Mediterranean climate that is characterized by mild winters and dry hot summers. In the higher parts of Greece you can experience cold periods during winter. The best time to visit Greece and the Greek Islands begins in May when the mean temperature is 21 degrees celsius (69 Fahrenheit) and rainfall is less than 1.5 cm and continues on through June. July has monthly average temperatures of 28 degrees (82 Fahrenheit) and rainfall less than 0.5 cm and September, with an average temperature of 24 degrees (76 Fahrenheit) and less than 1 cm of rain. The first two weeks of June have perfect, sunny and warm weather, with little clouds or rain. Most rain falls between November and February.
